I don't think console gaming would have made it out of the 80's if people had to install anything to play. With this 1TB system you can install more games but a friend with an original 500GB PS4 says he can only install 5 or 6 games at once until his PS4 fills up, then he has to delete a game before he can install (play) another one. Also gone are the days I suppose of having dozens of games and playing anyone you want. If I want to play tomorrow morning, I better install it now. Gone are the days of putting in a disc and playing within a few minutes. Now games need to be "installed" - it can take HOURS before you're able to play the game. My main disappointment has been the changes since early the prior generation.

In hindsight had I know XBox Ones could stream their gameplay to any Windows 10 machine I may well have went with the Xbox One but luckily Sony offers something similar, although it's not something you can use by normal means on non-Sony devices, you have to jump through hoops to get game streaming to a computer but hopefully in time they will formalize it and it will improve.
I asked my 20 something cousins which they thought were better and universally they suggested the PS4 over the XBox One.
This latest generation was the first time I purposely chose not to buy the systems as soon as they were released and truthfully I didn't even follow them that closely. I'm 37 so I grew up with original Sega and Nintendo, then Genesis and Super Nintendo, and all the other systems right up to the PS3 and XBox 360 both of which I was purchasing as an adult by that point, on the days they were released.
